So typical of the vintage this red is fruit-driven, with perfumed violets, cigar box, wood spice and vanilla aromas. Palate reminiscent of a coiled spring, waiting to release layers of flavour. Very elegant, tightly structured, showing early potential and yet finishing in soft, polished tannins. Barrel Ageing: 18 months (50% in new & 20% second fill, 30% third fill French oak)
Maturation: 5 – 15 years from vintage
Alcohol: 14,42% by volume
Residual Sugar: 2.4 g/l
Total Acid: 5.8 g/l
pH: 3.4 Excellent with grilled ribeye steak. A classic match for richer savoury dishes, springbok fillet or black mushroom stroganoff. 2016: 92 points Tim Atkin
